Telecommunications
and information technology equipment in Australia must be labeled to
demonstrate compliance with technical standards for EMC,
telecommunications, radiocommunications, and/or safety. Labeling must be backed up by compliance records, which include Declarations of Conformity. The
declarations must be signed by an Australian citizen, and the compliance records are held by an Australian supplier or agent, whose Supplier Code Number (SCN) is printed on the product labeling.
This system puts the weight of
responsibility for compliance on the manufacturer, rather than the regulator.
For this reason, it is critically important that the compliance records be prepared
properly. The Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) may (and will) audit those compliance records at any time.
We support conformity assessment for our clients' telecommunications, radio equipment and other ITE in Australia through
our Australia office.
Our support service in Australia is a turnkey solution
that includes:
- advice on compliance requirements and strategy
- preparing complete compliance folders taking into account the most recent
formal and informal rulemaking from the ACMA
- engineering test support where required
- serving as our clients' agent for
compliance -- signing the declarations and maintaining compliance folders as
required by local law. This allows our clients to use our registered supplier
code number on product labeling without even having their own presence in
Australia.
- for compliance records we maintain, we support the file when ACMA audits
